Some restaurants require proof of your organization's validity in order to send your donation after the event. To see if this is something they require, you can view a restaurant's policies when you submit a request OR on your event's Meal Management Page. Click here if you're unsure whether or not your organization is tax exempt.
Below we've included a breakdown of each of the three document types you may be asked to provide. If you have this document, please upload a photo, scan, PDF, or screenshot of the information to your Group Profile. Find out how to do that here.
Commonly Requested Documentation
1. W-9 Form
This is the most common form asked of fundraising groups from restaurants.
By filling out a W-9 form, you are indicating that your organization pays taxes. This also allows the restaurant to properly issue tax documents to the IRS. All you need to do is download the document below, upload it to your GroupRaise account, and you're all set!
You do not need to be a non-profit organization to fill out a W9 form--however please review the restaurant's location policies to be sure you are eligible to fundraise with them.

2. IRS Declaration Letter
Also known as: Letter of Determination, IRS Tax Exemption Letter.
Some restaurants may want an alternative form of verification that your organization is a qualified tax-exempt entity. These businesses may ask you to prove your tax status by providing a copy of your organization's IRS determination letter, which you received when you received 501(c) or--more specifically--501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity. If you have this documentation, check out this article showing you how to upload it to your GroupRaise account.
